What IS behind that closet door?
When you’re preparing to sell your home, have a friend or two come through your home as if they are prospective buyers. Ask them to open closets, cabinet doors – truly look through your home as if they were considering purchasing it.
You might be surprised to find what is behind that cabinet door that shouldn’t be.
And you might be surprised that they smell what you can’t.
It’s always a good idea to have an outside opinion, so select someone who will be brutally honest with you about their findings.
Do they notice dirty air filters or scratched wood – anything that indicates that the home has not been well cared for? Do the closets look like they couldn’t fit another thing?
Working with both Buyers and Sellers, I often laugh at how critical Buyers will be when they shop; yet it is impossible to get them to address neglected items in their home they are about to put on the market.
So, don’t just take my word for it – get a second opinion!
