“Memories at Activerain” – when the Rainers laughed WITH me!
There was much discussion on AR about getting a Facebook Vanity URL, including the pros and cons of a vanity URL, whether you should use your real name or combine it with your profession or region.
I studied the suggestions and blog comments and came up with a list of names I would like to use, with TulsaRealtor being at the top of my list. The race to get your coveted URL began at 11:30 pm on June 12th – a night that would be remembered in my real estate memory book.
My husband and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on June 11th. On June 12th, he left town for the weekend and I was anxious to have the house to myself, enjoy some quiet blogging time AND enjoy a few glasses of Merlot.
My Friday night was great. I had a lovely dinner and some California Merlot. I blogged a little, did some laundry, caught up on e-mails and played with our pup.
My Outlook calendar was marked on June 12, 2009 with a reminder to sign up for my URL at exactly 11:30 pm. After a long peaceful evening, I was stationed at my keyboard at EXACTLY 11:25 pm, ready for the gates to open.
SUCCESS! I got my 1st choice vanity URL!! My husband called to say good-night and pretended to sound excited at my achievement. I immediately went to Active Rain to post that I had been awarded my 1st choice, and I even reported my success on Facebook and Twitter!
“Memories at Activerain” – when the Rainers laughed WITH me!
Several weeks later I got around to adding links to my AR outside blog, LinkedIn, etc. and to my horror — discovered that I had NOT registered TulsaRealtor, but had mistyped and registered TulsaReator!! Now, I’m REALLY going to impress clients when they learn that I can’t spell what I do for a living!
You can’t imagine how embarassed I was.
But, what’s a girl to do? Being fairly new at AR, I decided to blog about it.
After all, I was new, becoming addicted to the Rain and trying to gain points. I titled my post, “This may not get me a gold star, but if you laugh, please comment!”
My husband was horrified that I would share this personal moment of slurry stupidity with other professionals. So, you can imagine his added horror when I raced downstairs to jump in his arms and tell him that my post had been FEATURED.
And I got my 2nd gold star!!
C Tann featured my post in Club Chaos. AND, Carla awarded me the honorable “LOL of the Day Award!”
The comments were hilarious! Really, if you need a break and just want to have a good laugh, read the 85 comments – they were much more funny than the incident itself.
So, my 2nd featured post occurred on July 8th and that’s when I truly felt at home at Active Rain . . . because my fellow Rainers laughed WITH me.
