The remodel of our detached carriage house is complete with the exception of our wrap-around deck, patio enhancements and additional fencing. What a transformation journey – this remodel took on a life of its own.
Our home is 100+ years old and has been in our family over 61 years. My husband Demetrius and I initially began the cottage remodel with the thought that my Mother may come to live with us some day – and we are grateful to know that it’s ready and done should she ever need it.
Our home is on South Cheyenne – hence the term “SoChey.” We are just blocks from the entertainment district on South Boston referred to by locals as “SoBo.”
Besides the beautiful remodel, the location of the cottage is the best. We are located one block west of Veteran’s Park and one block east of the River Parks at 21st & Riverside – a stone’s throw from Blue Rose on the River. The SoBo District about 4 blocks away includes restaurants Dalesandros, Burn Company BBQ, Vintage 1740 Wine Bar and several cocktail lounges. We are slightly over a mile to the BOK Center, Guthrie Green, Brady Arts District and Blue Dome District – also same distance to Cherry Street and Brookside.
Now to the relaxing SoChey Cottage. It is a stand-alone cottage in the far back of our lot – so privacy for all.
The main room includes a full kitchen – full refrigerator, stove, built-in microwave, counter space, Keurig and more. There is a desk and chair for your laptop and wi-fi access. The queen-size bed is memory foam and a turquoise ottoman contains extra blankets. Guest seating is included in this room. A move-able kitchen island includes bar seating and serves as the dining area.

The sitting room includes a Chanel fabric sofa which is oh-so-comfortable for watching television or an afternoon nap. Included in this room is a flat-screen Roku television.
The bathroom includes an over-sized tiled shower, bathroom heater and all the amenities you need. Towels and shampoo, soaps are provided, of course.
The cottage itself is heated and cooled by split-air systems (similar to what you find in hotel rooms). Additional features include canned lighting, ceiling fan and light, and a closet for clothes storage.
Rates vary depending on events and length of stay. Well-behaved pets allowed. No smoking.
