Home Repairs – don’t skimp now – get them done by a professional
I just attended re-inspections at a home I sold and several home repairs did NOT pass re-inspection. Although it’s the Seller’s responsibility to get a bid for home repairs, I generally always forward the home inspection reports and list of requested repairs to my favorite repairman, Gary Ellis.
Gary’s repairs always pass re-inspection and in fact, one inspector was so impressed with the work done, he personally called me to find out who had done the work.
So, I had a home Seller that wanted to save a little money. He had Gary do only the repairs he didn’t want to do and the rest he attempted with his brother-in-law. I wouldn’t describe this particular Seller as a “handy” person.

It’s unfortunate that we were forced to re-inspect five hours prior to closing, but that’s how it worked out. After discovering that several home repairs were made improperly, I called Gary for a quick verbal quote. The Buyer and Seller agreed to issue a check to my repairman (at the Seller’s expense) for the repairs to be done after closing.
With a quick response from my repairman and a Supplemental agreement, we did still close on schedule.
Home Sellers, please do not put your sales transaction in jeopardy by trying to skimp on repairs you are not qualified to make.
