The post that took me past 200,000 Active Rain points
This is the post that will take me past 200,000 Active Rain points, a milestone I’m eager to reach.
I always thought I got my writing skills from my great-grandfather
who owned a newspaper in Carter Oklahoma called the Carter Express Newspaper. He passed several years before I was born, and I like to think that he sent his writing skills to me as a gift – sort of an inheritance. He would have been a good blogger
. I’ve read many of his editorials, and he wrote a bit like Mark Twain. He was very conversational in his writing style, even when he wrote editorials on topics for which he felt much passion. His editorial that has always been my favorite was one he wrote in support of transporting rural children to attend schools in larger, nearby cities. Passionate about education, he used his typewriter and newspaper to fight for quality education for all.

I write about my community, favorite neighborhoods and my real estate profession. I write about my husband and pup, my church and my joys (cooking and entertaining).
Active Rain
is a national real estate network where real estate professionals share industry information and communicate about social media as it relates to our profession. So, as I write this post that will take me past 200,000 Active Rain points, I would like to offer a small dedication to my great-grandfather, George Wesley Cain, and thank the many AR members and staff who have helped me along the way.
