Tulsa Home Buyer’s Toolkit – don’t forget your measuring tape!
Recently I shopped with a Tulsa home buyer and we found the perfect home with one minor detail: her automobile wouldn’t fit in the garage.
It’s frightening that we might not have noticed this, but the Seller had her car parked in the garage at an angle. So, we asked the Seller to move her car so that we could try to park – my Tulsa home buyer’s car was at least eight inches too long. We’ve since gotten quotes as to how the garage could be modified to fit her car, but imagine my embarrassment if my Buyer didn’t realize this until AFTER closing?
Because I sell in an area of Tulsa where homes are older, another area to measure is where the washer and dryer fit. New washers and dryers are wider than older versions and there’s nothing more frustrating on moving day than to discover that you need one more inch for both to fit.

Same is true with refrigerators – newer models are wider and taller. If there is cabinetry above the area where the fridge fits, definitely measure to make sure yours is not too tall.
Is the ceiling high enough for your antique grandfather’s clock? Are you going to have to remove more than doors to get your oversized sofa down the basement stairs?
Once you’ve found the perfect Tulsa home to purchase, you don’t want to spoil that excitement after closing because of these types of surprises. So pack your Buyer’s toolkit when you shop for your Tulsa home, and don’t forget your measuring tape!
