The Benefit of Multiple Blogs on One Website
December 8th, 2009 Author: Danny Thornton
A few months back, a member of this online real estate network asked me to share my thoughts with her on having multiple blogs on one website. When she first posed the question, I wondered what the benefit of multiple blogs on one website would be. So, I did what I normally do; I told her that I would look into the benefit of doing just that. After some time and research, I have come to realize that there are huge benefits to this. With that said, PREP is proud to announce that their members can now have multiple blog pages on a single site. Now, before we all jump on this, let’s take a look at some of the benefits.
First, one needs to understand that there are many different types of media blogs as well as being broke down into genre. One of the great things that you can do with multiple blogs is separate them out by media or by genre. Let’s say that you want to have a business blog that you want to talk about all the things going on in your industry, but you also want to have a blog where you can share videos and another where you can share photos. With the ability to have multiple blogs on your website, one can have the normal blog while having a vlog and/or a photoblog. This is only one of the things that you can do with the separate blogs.
Another option is being able to have blogs that are more refined. One of our newest members has employed a blog called Short Sale & Foreclosure Information on her site. While all of her other articles are posted to the main blog, any that pertain to short sales or foreclosure go to this new blog. So, why not just use “categories” to do this with, you ask? That is real simple. With the blog, Google will index and follow the blog page as well as the articles. Not only will her articles show up in searches, so will her new blog page. Where some sites set categories to be indexed, most of them are “nofollow”. With having multiple blogs, they can all be set to “dofollow”.
Another benefit would be if you have a professional blog that you want to keep strictly business, but you also want to write blogs about recipes, your pets, your family, or anything that is not business related, you could by having multiple blog pages. While this is not high on my list of benefits, I still think that it might carry some weight.
Now, with all that being said, here is what I see as the one biggest benefit of it all; everything is handled from one dashboard. Another huge benefit to this is that there is actually less work required once this is set up. I can see more people using something like this versus having multiple blog sites. Oh, and before I forget; each of these different blogs could realistically have different web addresses.
If you have any questions or comments, we look forward to answering them.
