Appreciating Veterans in Tulsa OK - 94th Annual Veterans Day Parade

The Parade!

Tulsa’s 94th annual Veterans Day Parade, hosted by local VFW organizations, begins Monday, November 12th at 11am. The downtown Tulsa parade route starts at 3rd and Boston, goes west to Boulder, south to 7th, east to Boston, north to 6th Street and on to Denver Avenue. Free to attend and open to the public.

This year’s honorees are Parade Grand Marshal Jim Bridenstine, Parade Chief of Staff John Dale, Parade Commander Vicki Jones, and Parade Adjutants James Alspaugh and James Carl.

Last year, more than 100 entries could be seen in the parade and more than 10,000 people are expected to attend.

Breakfast Before the Parade!

Every year before the big Veterans Day parade through downtown Tulsa — said to be one of the largest and oldest Veterans Day parades in the country — the VFW Post at Sixth and Peoria fills to the brim with parade participants. Find veterans from every modern foreign war there with their friends and families, all loaded down with plates piled with pancakes and syrup, biscuits and gravy, and sausage and eggs and fried potatoes, all for a pittance and all-you-can-eat. It’s an annual fundraiser for the post, and the interior is decorated to suite the occasion! If you’re hungry before the parade, next to a decorated local veteran is the only way to dine. The ALL YOU CAN EAT breakfast is served from 8am-10am.

Do take time to pick up the phone, send a card and personally thank every Veteran you know. One day set aside is hardly enough, so make the time to thank the veterans in your life.
