It’s not every day that you sell a house, so here are some tips to prepare your home to be ready for the photographer. My preferred photographer, Leslie Gregory, put this awesome checklist together. Nothing tempts a home buyer more to schedule a showing of your property than professional, quality and appealing photos!
CHECKLIST FOR PHOTO DAY!
My name is Leslie Gregory and I am the professional photographer assigned to shoot your home for sale. Please review these helpful suggestions prior to Photo Day!
- I will be shooting every room and all around the exterior of your home. The only rooms excluded will be the garage and closets.
- Any given surface (i.e. table, counter, fireplace) should not have more than 2-3 items maximum.
- No personal items (if photos must be out, please keep them to a minimum)
- Floors clear of debris
- I will open or close blinds when possible based on the lighting in each particular room.
ROOMS
- All lights turned on – change burnt out bulbs
- Fans OFF
- Remove eye distractions, (i.e. cables, cords, ALL personal items, trash cans, all pet items, items on bed posts etc.)
- TVs turned off
- Computers off
- Lamp shades straight and even
- Any wall hanging straight
- Minimize wall hangings
- Make beds
- Add flowers for color if needed
KITCHEN
- Dishes clean and put away
- All counter tops clear (2-3 items only)
- Detached microwaves put out of sight
- Toasters and blenders put away
- Magnets off refrigerator
BATHROOMS
- All lights turned on – change burnt out bulbs
- Clean mirror (remove any stickers)
- Counter tops, no more than 2-3 items
- Removal of movable eye distractions, (i.e. tooth brushes, hair dryers, trash cans, personal items)
- Toilet lids in the down position
- Arrange towels to all be at the same length
- Wall hangings straight
- Add flowers for color if needed
POOL
- Pool should be cleaned just prior to shooting if applicable
- Removal of movable eye distractions, (i.e. cables, trash cans, pool supplies, rafts, etc)
- Chairs arranged facing the pool
- All plants face towards photographer for best angle
EXTERIOR
- Trim those trees and bushes! We want to be able to see the exterior of your home.
- For best results have outside areas swept prior to shooting. Add color if at all possible!
- Remove all pet items and lawn equipment, hoses
- Removal of movable eye distractions, (i.e. trash cans, ash trays, newspapers, any signage)
- Keep clear the side of house as well. I will be shooting all angles.
- Move vehicles out of driveway
