Programs: NeighborWoods
NeighborWoods is a national program administered by Up With Trees through funds obtained from ReGreen Tulsa, and sponsored by the Home Depot Foundation and the Alliance for Community Trees. We are excited to facilitate this program for Tulsans; neighborhood trees play a large role in improving the health, beauty and social fabric of our neighborhoods.
This program helps neighborhoods restore tree canopy by offering FREE trees for homeowners front yards. Homeowners must apply as a group through a neighborhood association or otherwise (we also work with neighbors who don’t have official associations in place), and must agree to water and care for their new trees on an ongoing basis. Homeowners can select their own tree from a variety of over a dozen “Tulsa tested” species, as well as designate the planting site; we’ll help you insure that it’s the right tree for the right place.
Volunteers from Up With Trees, Home Depot, volunteer organizations, and from the neighborhood itself meet on a designated Saturday morning to plant a minimum of 20 trees. We ask homeowners to welcome volunteers with light breakfast snacks to kickoff the planting day. Click here to download the application: NeighborWoods Application 2009 (updated Aug 2009).
