Thinking of Relocating to Tulsa?
Recently I’ve worked with three couples relocating to Tulsa and have come up with some tips to best utilize your short time to find the perfect home. Each real estate market is different, so if homes are not selling quickly in your area, be prepared for a different climate in Tulsa!
#1 – Make plans to meet with a Tulsa Lender. When you do find a home on which to place an offer, it will be better received if the Seller and Listing Realtor are comfortable with your Lender of choice.
#2 – Allow time for a tour. If you are not familiar with Tulsa, let me show you our highway system and how to navigate in Tulsa. Those relocating to Tulsa from larger cities are pleasantly surprised by how quickly we can get around. Will you select an area based on the quickest commute to your job or the proximity of your home to activities you enjoy? You may be able to do both!
#3 – Take copious notes. If we are viewing eight or more homes per day, you will have a hard time remembering what you liked or didn’t like about each. A home you ruled out the first day may become a possibility later on.
#4 – Plan multiple trips if possible. Selecting a home in a new city is much more difficult than selecting a home in a city that you’re familiar with. When relocating to Tulsa, enjoy the process and take time to digest information.
#5 – Before relocating to Tulsa, choose a Realtor® who will take the time to listen to your needs and wants. If a home pops up on the market in between trips, your Realtor® should preview and send you additional information. Discuss how quickly the homes are moving in your desired area and price range and establish a plan to make an offer electronically. Select a Tulsa Realtor who will make your home selection a top priority.
