Sellers – get your home “show ready” AND accept and respond to feedback
I have been blessed with GREAT Sellers lately – willing to spend time and money to get their home “show ready” to put on the market and make all suggested improvements AND with Sellers willing to accept and respond to feedback.
Recently I had two wonderful Sellers who met with me, met with my home stager and did all that they were asked to do. Listing paperwork was turned in and my photographer went out to shoot photos – we’re on schedule, ready for our first weekend to impress Buyers.
Friday night I madly uploaded photos of our new listing to all the various internet sites on which I advertise, including Active Rain.
The photo of their kitchen just “bugged” me — too much hardware on the kitchen cabinets.
Snow hit Oklahoma – not necessarily rare in March, but not welcome, considering the amount we’ve had already. Being the ever-diligent Realtor that I am, I trudged through snow Saturday morning to meet clients at a house, run by the office to pick up flyers and deliver them to my new Sellers.
So, I visit with my Sellers Saturday morning and they even fed me breakfast. They had been viewing links of their property as I got them uploaded and e-mailed to them.
Finally I admitted that the kitchen photo was bothering me. It is odd, but sometimes what looks “normal” in a home does not look well in photos. I seriously worried that this single photo of their kitchen would prevent Buyers from looking at their beautiful home.
Sellers – get your home “show ready” AND accept and respond to feedback
Sellers’ response was better than any Realtor could ask for, “what would you like us to do?”
Gabbi even commented, “These cabinets have been bugging me since we bought the house – totally ironic that we find this solution as we proceed to SELL the house!”
So, Mike donned his tool belt and the two got to work over the weekend. The snow was falling heavily enough now that we knew they would have no showing. The two worked together and produced photos of the new and improved kitchen less than 30 hours later.
Gabbi reads my blog and thought this post should be titled, “How to fix a house eyesore for some muscle and a few bucks.” Instead, I titled it “Sellers – get your home “show ready” AND accept and respond to feedback,” but it is really the same thing. 🙂
If you’re interested in how they got from the before to the after . . .
“We are transforming the kitchen cabinets….the results are looking good. The kitchen cabinets were all pulled off and the hardware re-painted. We decided to replace some of the hardware and salvaged some too. The results are fixing the problem we had with too much metal showing! Again, it is totally ironic that we find this solution as we proceed to sell the house. The cabinets have been painted as well. Mike is firmly into his handyman routine. Thanks for the inspiration . . . . ”
Blessed indeed to have Sellers ready to do the work up front and quickly respond to feedback. Wish us luck for a swift and profitable sale!
