Every year the City of Tulsa has a citywide Block Party Day. These block parties provide a good way to get together and meet your neighbors. Block parties can vary from elaborate celebrations complete with children’s activities to small picnics. Bug, the Obie Award-winning play by Tracy Letts takes audiences to a seedy motel room outside Oklahoma City, where a darkly disturbing but strangely fascinating story of conspiracy, paranoia, love, madness and, yes, bugs inexorably unfolds. A woman on the run from her abusive ex-con ex-husband is introduced to an AWOL Gulf War veteran who exposes her to an insane conspiracy that becomes all too real. Bug was adapted into a motion picture in 2006. Tracy Letts is the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play August: Osage County, which played in Chapman Music Hall in January 2010. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his dramatic works imaginatively revisit his home state again and again. Bug is presented by the Odeum Theatre Company.
