Our midtown, downtown AirBnB cottage now adorns the recently adopted Tulsa Flag made by Jennifer Harmon, owner of Pallet Swag. Isn’t it beautiful?
Jennifer actually saw our AirBnB on Facebook where it was posted amidst a discussion of city zoning criteria for short term rentals. She fell in love with our cottage and contacted me with an offer to gift her work of art. How cool is that?
We are pretty snooty about art work allowed at the cottage – only art from local artists allowed. We have metal art by Lisa Regan of Garden Deva; lithography by Sharon Braun; and a lovely photograph of our neighborhood gifted from a local photographer staying with us.
Then Jennifer asked what we called our cottage, and I replied “SoChey Cottage.” This is what she came up with next!!!! I love that she added the actual latitude and longitude of our location to the sign!
History of the Tulsa Flag
The flag of Tulsa consists of an upper blue half and a lower beige half, separated by a gold horizontal line, with a gold, art-deco stylized Osage shield punctuating the left third. The shield contains a red circle, and a beige six-pointed star centered within the circle. Source: Wikipedia

Each element of the Tulsa Flag has meaning, including the Arkansas River, history of oil, Native American tribes, the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Tulsa’s famous Art Deco architecture and the warmth and community of which we are proud.
You may not think of art when you think of Tulsa Oklahoma; yet we boast multiple museums including Philbrook Museum of Art, Gilcrease Museum of western art, and the Woody Guthrie museum. Additionally, we have an Arts District in our revitalized downtown area, several theaters, a ballet, symphony and orchestra.
And if you’d like to visit Tulsa and stay in the SoChey Cottage – it’s located on South Cheyenne, blocks from the Gathering Place, 1 block from the River Parks, a mile south of the downtown happenings – and close to Cherry Street and Brookside. We just happen to be in the best little corner of midtown and downtown Tulsa!
Do visit the SoChey Cottage! (See photos here!)
